Anyone need a pallet in Buenos Aires?
My bike should be arriving at the EZE airport in Buenos Aires January 20th and I have no idea what I can do with the pallet that it is strapped on. If someone is flying their bike out of BsAs and needs a pallet soon, it is very sturdy made out of IPPC Heat Treated wood, it cradles the front wheel and should be able to accomodate any size bike. You could also easily nail some plywood sides to it to make a completely enclosed crate for ocean frieght.
I've e-mailed Javier and Sandra at Dakar Motos to see if I could hire their assistance, but have not had any reply yet, so I may have to just wing it on my own.

It's being delivered by Air Canada from Calgary Alberta, and it's costing me a LOT of cash, approx $2500USD!
Unfortunately I only have about 3 months at my disposal so the unpredictable arrival schedules and high port fees associated with ocean frieght wasn't worth the potential savings for me. When shipping by air you know exactly when it will arrive.

Hey Garry,
Nice website you've started there! I wish I would have had the luxury of that map when I was looking for your place back in '05! It's awesome that you've officially opened your doors to travellers, I have very fond memories of the city, pyramids, and other things that I would never have seen on my own without your help.I will definitely stop in on my way if all goes well, and yes, I'll try to aviod the bad men with the guns this time!
Keep in touch.
Mike.

May be freighting my bike to SA later this year, dont know yet where, and will I be using a ship or an airplane..... But anyway, it would be great to hear, how clearing the customs (and insurance and the rest of the paperwork) will work out for you.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
