Europe to Namibia
Hi guys, I am new here at this forum and am... an intruder, as I don't travel by bike but by Land Rover 109 Series III.
I know you guys are tolerant, so I decided to write nonetheless...
Do you have any addresses of shipping companies that do the transport of a vehicle from Europe (best: Italy) to Namibia? I am starting organizing a trip down there for August 08, so there's plenty of time.
I shipped my Land Rover to Mauritania in December, so if anyone wnats infos on that I can be very specific.
Regards and thanks a lot, Paolo

Cheers!!

Can't help with shipping company, but once you get your container in Walvis Bay, Namibia and you need an agent to release it from port, I can recommend this small and friendly company:
Coastal Imports and Exports
Walvis Bay
Namibia

Experience with Coastal Imports & Exports was good (seem they only have 3 people working there, so it was quite "personal"). I shipped my car from Namibia to Europe.
Contrary, the big agent where Maersk sent me promised to give me quote but never got back to me (they said they can't give quote prompty but for "tomorrow" and promised to contact me but that never happened). The same with another big name agent in the port.
I found Coastal Imports & Exports by accident, just saw a small office and thought I'll go and ask them about shipping...

Check out MACS shipping (From UK). We are doing this exact trip in July 07. We had thought about Walvis Bay but Cape Town is much cheaper

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
