Ferry Cesme (TR) - Chios (GR) - Thessaloniki (GR)
Hey everyone!
I'm wondering about the ferry from the subject.
The ferry should cross every day, at these times:
Cesme-Chios (ERTURK LINES)
9:30-10:30
Chios-Thessaloniki (NEL LINES)
12:15-9:50
Any experience with those ferries? I'm interested if it's enough an hour to exit first ferry and enter another? And buy a ticket in between? Also, are they crowded?
I should be there by the ferries on 11 September, traveling alone on a motorbike.
Tnx!

Pretty easy...
I did the same thing (Cesme - Chios -Thessaloniki) about two weeks ago..
The ferry from Cesme is always crowded and there is little space for cars and bikes so you should be there as early as possible. Now the ferry from Chios to Thessaloniki changes schedule a lot so mine departed at 23.00 instead of 12.15 and bear in mind this ferry only leaves on Sundays. Check with ferrytraveler.gr or even better call 0030 2310 500800 at the office in Thessaloniki port to make sure what time and day the ferry leaves from Chios. The customs when you check out in Chios from Turkey and the port where the big ferry leaves for Thessaloniki are next to each other plus the office where you can issue a ticket is 5 min. by foot so there is enough time.
Last thing is that you 'll needsome 70 euros (for bike and driver) from Cesme and around 100 to Thessaloniki.
If there is anything more, don't hesitate to contact- fb Dionisis Frantzis

An hour is enough time even if they don't postpone the Thessaloniki ferry. Just be vigorous about positioning yourself at Greek customs in Chios so you don't get stuck behind someone who's luggage is being exhaustively searched.
You might be surprised (per #2) and find you've got a lot of time to kill in Chios.
Hope that's helpful.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
