Ferry from Europe to Egypt
Hello everyone,
In January 2017 we plan a trip through Africa's east coast. We have a problem that we do not know how to get the motobikes from Europe to Africa (Egypt). All ferries that were sailing are not longer available and there is not so much of information on the Internet. Ferry from Turkey (Iskenderun) to Egypt is (Alexandria) canceled, as well as the one from Greek PIREAS to Egypt (Alexandria). I heard that ferry from Cyprus to Egypt goes, but I do not know if that's true and I cannot find any information about it. Could you please give me any advise how five people and five motobikes could reach Egypt from Europe by ferry? Or is it not possible anymore?
Thanks for any information.
Sincerely, Slobodnik

Marek,
I was looking for the same and it appears that the regular ferry lines from Europe or even Turkey to Egypt have been suspended
One track worth investigating would be to take a Ferry from Greece to Haifa in Israel, the Jordan, then Egypt

We had to go Piraeus to Haifa after the first Gulf war when the ferry line that had been going to Alexandria suspended its service.
Everyone told us that we wouldn't be able to cross from Israel to Egypt but in the event this was very straightforward if a bit long winded on the Egyptian side with the Carnet and having to get Egyptian registration plates. We crossed from Elat through Taba.

I shipped my bike from Alexandria to Piraeus, Greece, in March 2016 on a roro vessel. No ferry service was available that I could find. While my bike was crossing the sea I flew from Alex to Athens.
Neptune Lines in Piraeus handled the shipping on the Greece side. They should be able to help arrange transport to Egypt.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
