Hi all,
For years there's been a hidden discount on the ferries operated by Tallink Silja, between Latvia, Estonia, Finland and Sweden - a deal they had with Louis.de, the big German retailer of motorcycle gear. It was a bit awkward to find and use, as you had to contact Tallink's international sales office instead of booking online, and sometimes had to convince them that the deal exists.
I was dealing with some of my own travel plans today, and got in touch with Tallink support about it, and they explained how it works.
1) Go to
www.tallinksilja.de - specifically the German site, not .SE, .EE, .FI or any other.
2) Set up your trip with a motorcycle as your vehicle on the ticket.
2.1) Check the box that says "FAHRZEUGPREISE ANZEIGEN" in the date selector.
2.2) Scroll down past the sailing times selector to the "FAHRZEUG" section and change the dropdown from car to motorcycle.
3) On the right side, find the text "% ICH HABE EINEN GUTSCHEIN →", click it and enter the discount code 95845.
There you go - now you only pay for the passenger, and the motorcycle travels for free!
Should work on any route between Tallinn and Helsinki, Helsinki/Turku and Stockholm, Stockholm and Riga, Tallinn and Stockholm.
Pro tip: on the overnight Stockholm routes, click on "SPEZIAL KABINEN" and you can select a shared berth in a cabin instead of having to book an entire cabin if you're traveling solo.
