From Indonesia to Australia
Hey guys !
I'm looking for any information about how to ship a bike (french registrated) from Indonesia to Australia.
I know the Dili/Darwin way but we'll be out of time before reaching Timor.
So I'm looking for a (cheap) way to ship the bike from Jakarta or Bali.
The destination in Australia is also flexible, Darwin, Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne...
The other point is the bike should be stored or travelling at least for 3 weeks. That's why I'm more looking about sea-shipping way...
All the information I can find on the Hubb are really old and the captcha system blocks access to contact informations from each post...
Thank you so much for any piece of information

Shipping Australia to Indonesia
Hi
We shipped our car in and out of Surabaya in a container, as we were told it was easier than Jakarta with a carnet. We shipped into Brisbane rather than Dili to Darwin as we understood quarantine is easier in Brisbane, as they are a busy port. It certainly was very easy there. Customs detained the car for 10 days to X-ray it,but quarantine took about 20 minutes. We used Hardrodt at both ends. They were very good and their quote was cheaper than the Dili to Darwin ones we received.
I saw good reports somewhere on the hubb of bikesn s.com.au for bikes from Australia to New Zealand, but don’t know if they cover a Indonesia. Snakeboy posts on the Hubb and went Indonesia to Australia on a bike a couple of years ago.
If you want contact details for Hardrodt let me know
Safe travels

Perth, Fremantle may be cheapest.
The website address is "bikesnbeers.com.au"
PS trick for getting rod of the smile things .. there are options at the bottom of the post ... the last one is to turn off the smilies and then you get beer in text.

Reason: how to remove smilies.

Not sure there is a regular container service ex Indonesia into Australia, I suspect that the service would be back to Singapore and then on a regular cargo service to any of the bigger ports in Australia.
BTW Sydney is the easiest place to land a vehicle as they don't require the vehicle to undergo any inspections for use on the roads.
You'll need left hand drive headlight beam benders which you wont easily find in Australia.

What did you do in the end? I am looking into shipping from Bali to (hopefully) Perth seeing the inspection there is easier than Darwin and I think I don't want to ride all the way to Timor.

From Thailand
Hi people,
I want to import my Harley from Phuket, Thailand back to Australia. Brisbane would be convenient, however I am open to suggestions.
I own the bike and have permission to import it.
Any suggestions / advise would be greatly appreciated.
It seems a nightmare when searching...
Thanks
Tony

We shipped out of Australia to Kuala Lumpur by air. We had used sea freight before but by the time you factor in the receiving costs and extra time waiting for the bike airfreight was better. We used a company called bikesabroad.co.au who operate out of Perth and Brisbane. They use BMW dealers to crate bikes and the whole thing was done without shipping agents fees so it worked out OK. Unless you want to travel over vast boring roads with overpriced fuel and dodgy accommodation I would suggest going to Brisbane and road around the south to Perth, but ride Jurien Bay just north of Perth before you leave. White sandy beaches, swimming in warm ocean waves and good value chalets on the beach.
