Great mechanic in Panama City...

Hi everyone,

I wrote last time asking for help because i thought my valves were going on me. I got the mane of a mechanic in PC who offered his advice and was right on the money.
Apperantly the petrol in Costa Rica is shit. That along with nthe fact that I could only find regular, rather than premium. He asked me when the knocking began, and yes it was in Costa Rica. I filled the tank with high octain premium once I got into Panama and the knockins has decreased substantially and is nearly gone, and my power feels back to normal as well.
His name is Anotonio Cabassa. He's in the phone book, sorry I don't have his number with me at the moment. Someone else gives him high marks as a mechanic as well but they miss-spelled his nams as Cabaza. If you have any trouble call him. He speaks English and was patient to answer all my other questions as well.
Just thought I'd put it out there, as Panama City soedsn't seem likt the best place to be wandering around loking for a mechanic if you have no idea where to start.
All the best and good luck!
Jeff

My riding partner had similar problems a few weeks ago- loss of power due to Costa Rica gas. She got her bike fixed by Antonio also. Great service, fair price. Located off Via Brasil, about a mile north of the BMW dealership.

The BMW dealership is also very good. Torerro, the BMW mechanic, helped me with my bike and only charged for parts. I did most of the wrenching, but Torerro did all the computer diagnostics.

Great Mechanic Confirmed

I saw this post, and another post by Brennan, so I tracked down Antonio's place.

I agree with everything people have said about the two Antonios. They are incredibly smart and genuine people. They know motorcycles and engines very well and I would go see them for anything you need. They use their brains first while diagnosing a problem and do not work hastily. They will work with you on whatever your issue is to get it fixed. They are also very genuine people who are motorcycle enthusiasts, advocates, and leaders in Panama.

Stop by Antonio Cabassa's shop for any motorcycle problems or to hear and share stories.

Thanks Antonio and Antonio!

-Scott

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
