Need Suggestions On Shipper USA - AUS - US
I want to ship my R12GS from the US to Sydney in Jan/Feb and back about 6 to 8 weeks later.
seeking advice on shippers and / or expediters for this.
since i am in CO and riding outta here in Jan will be impossible, i am also seeking a transporter from here to west coast or a company that will arrange it all..
know about carnets and sterilizing bike...
anyone who has done it and can offer info?
thanks!

shippers
Hello,
I used Forward Air to send a bike from Sacramento to Baton Rouge, LA a few years ago. They had crates of different sizes at the drop off depot and all I had to do was fit the bike in their crate. I think it cost something like $300. Even though the company is called "Forward Air" the bike went by truck.
I hope that helps.
I am thinking about sending my bike to AUS in Dec. or Jan. What company are you using to send for bike? What does it cost, and what kind of lead time did you have to give them?
Cheers
Matt

shipping
matt,
sorry for the delayed response.
i have decided to not ship my bike because friend i am visiting will let me use his RT -- and he has no time to ride since his farm requires his daily presence
in the summer, when i will be there (Feb-Apri).
i have been told that Qantas is the best way to ship, because they have everything ready to go there at LAX... however, you are aware of the requirements for carnet, absolute cleanliness of the bike, etc? all that info is here on HU site, and it is a lot.
send me an email direct to address below and i will pass on to you what i got privately from a HUBB member.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
