ro-ro to namibia
Hi
We are looking to ship our 4x4 camper to Namibia by ro-ro(to big for container),but it must be unloaded of personal things? For our own security.
So we are looking to share space in a container in sept-oct this year.
Can anyone help with there own experience or space ?

Would never go ro-ro to Africa. Heard too many accounts of problems.
We have always shipped directly into Walvis Bay from Immingham in the Uk with MACS Shipping using John Goode as our agent here and Woker Shipping doing the job in Walvis Bay.
You could contact John Goode on 01472 722409 and ask for information.

personal things
hi Moody !
for any others thinking along same lines. . . . . .
the issue of 'personal belongings' depends on which shipping line is being used.
there are three options :
1) empty vehicle of stuff.
2) leave stuff in vehicle and pay optional 300 UK£ for stuff insurance.
3) leave stuff in vehicle and do not take the insurance.
differnet shipping lines apply one or the other of the above.
we have confirmed in writing direct roro sheerness to walvis and we are able to leave all belongings in truck, optional insurance.
details correct as of May 2015
Phil.

roro security
Hello Margaret
you mention in you post 'never use RORO'
I know many people have had problems when shipping to or via africa where the ship is making multiple port stops but I have yet to find details of anybody that had vehicle breakin for a direct RORO UK to AFRICA.
do you actually have any details or just hearsay / rumours ?
I would be interested to read anybodies experience of DIRECT RORO ?
thanks
Phil.
