Rusia to Alaska transport
I´d like to ride from Europe to Magadan or Wladiwostok in June/July this year and cross to Alaska with my Bmw 1150 Gs.
As I found out, only passenger ferry is available.
Any idea, whom I can contact?
Saludos
Uli

Really? A passenger ferry between eastern Russia and Alaska? This seems improbable for a lot of reasons.
There have been threads on the HUBB about air transport between the two, but I haven't heard of anyone actually doing this. For example: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...s-alaska-92136
There are more threads about ferrying to Korea or Japan, then sea or air shipping to North America. The search function on this site works reasonably well these days.
Hope that's helpful.

The ferry I found,
is DBS from Vladivostok to Japan. Even this would be ok, if I can get the bike on it:-)

Of course you can get your motorcycle on it.
It is a car ferry, not just passenger ferry.

From Japan to Alaska is another problem. Probably easier and cheaper to ship to Vancouver, Canada. Then you can ride to Alaska or take the ferry.

Uli:
There is NO passenger or freight service between Magadan or Vladivostok and the Alaska. None, nada, rien, keiner.
There is simply no market demand for such services.
See this discussion: Magadan to Alaska by air.

I have lived in Alaska for 40 years. I have friends in the barge business. One or two decades ago there was a barge service between Anchorage and Magadan. But no longer. On my recent trip to Mongolia I went the long way. Anchorage to Halifax then ship to Antwerp etc.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
