Shipping a bike to Colombia from California
Hey, I just posted the same question in I think the wrong forum, I’m trying to find a way of getting my ktm790 down to Colombia from California. I’ll meet it there and ride down to the bottom of South America. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Really struggling to find a company.
Thanks Tony from Venice Beach

Yes, deleted that one, this forum is more better
tohelllnback's question is a critical one - have you decided? I recommend air for sure. BUT all shipping is a mess and expensive right now. So then the date comes into importance - WHEN do you want to ship the bike?
Where have you tried?
Have you checked out the HU Shipping database: https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/tr...t/shipping.php for a LOT of people's experiences on this and other shipments.
Also, for lots of shipping tips, see Shipping the bike https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ge...pping-the-bike
Check the advertisers there too - they're based in the UK, but ship to and from everywhere.
Hope that helps!

Shipping or buying
Consider also the option to buy a bike in Colombia.
It requires some work. But not difficult.
And it is legal to drive out of Colombia

Shipping from California might be a stretch. How about to Panama, then to Bogota as an option?
For the money you are going to pay for shipping, I'm guessing US$2000+. Better to sell the 790 and buy one here in Colombia. Border crossings and selling a breeze anywhere in SA when you are ready to go home. As a tourist, you can buy with just your passport and $$$.
https://listado.mercadolibre.com.co/ktm-790-adventure#D
Avg exchange rate is around US$1 = COP 3900
US$13-14k for a very low mileage, excellent condition 790R runs about here.

Buying & Selling in South America
Hi
I’m unable to find a company that will ship my bike to South America. I read your comment about better to buy in Colombia and sell when I leave.
Our plan is north to south then end in Buenos Aires.
Do you or any other readers have any experience crossing borders with a Colombian registered bike then selling in Buenos Aires ?

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
