Shipping car with RORO from Japan to Europe
Hi,
I know this is mostly a bikers site and for bikes the shipping is very different.
But we are wondering if anybody had experience with shipping their car from Japan to somewhere in Europe (Antwerp/Rotterdam/Hamburg for example).
I know that there are loads of RORO lines from several harbors, that is not the issue.
However, if somebody has experience with this, he or she could recommend a shipping company or agent. And we would like to get a rough idea on the cost.
The cost for the RORO transit itself is relatively low, but I don't know about the harbor cost.
We plan to enter the country via ferry from Vladivostok, so we will be entering on a Temporary Import Document, we will not be using a Carnet.
The car is registered in Netherlands.
I have contacted a shipper via some Jumvea site (their car export trade organisation) and also a Japanese car import guy here locally, but it all leads to nothing when the realize it is a "difficult story". That means not a Japanese registered car that they are exporting. But to me it seems relatively easy, as my view on it is that somebody from customs should just stamp off the Temporary Import Document and be done with it. Of course you still have the normal harbor service cost for loading the car etc.
Thanks in advance
