Shipping car from Walvis Bay to South America
We intend to ship our LandCruiser at the end of the year in a container from Walvis Bay to South America. We have a couple of questions: - What is the best port to ship to? We have understood it is Montevideo or Buenos Aires
- what agents can be recommended in Namibia and in South America?
- Are there any special issues to be aware of?
Thanks in advance for the information.

for my Experience the best Destination is Chile for an easy and cheap Entry.
I could give you a Quote from Namibia or from Capetown uf you are interested.

Dear Olaf,
Thanks.
We have decided to ship to Montevideo. All in all that fits best with our plans.

We use Namibia Shipping and Logistics in Walvis Bay. Total costs without handling and taxes in Montevideo are about NAD 34000.

Never disesteem local charges at arrival in any place in Southamerica. Chile, Uruguay or Argentina; you could always be surprised. Inquire in advance real numbers to your shipper and always is better if you can send it as “all charges pre-paid”.
Ask to Duncan from African Overlanders in Cape Town, he recently have shipped a bike to Buenos Aires in that way that have paid very cheap all charges included and all works very well for been by sea.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
