Shipping from Sydney to Chile
Looking to ship from Sydney to Chile in January 2016.
Has anyone got current details about customs costs etc to claim the bike in Chile. I have heard various reports with wildly varying prices, including some sort of 10% deposit on the value of the bike. Any information would be greatly appreciated - I have it sussed at this end, but have no idea what happens when the bike arrives and how I get it. Thanks

Looking at the past Hu shipments ...
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/get...o_type=country
has one in 2013 ... and that says $400 on entry +$900 carnet.
and one in 2015 .. and that goes to a blog .. have you read it? Does not look helpful for costs .. maybe contact them?
I trust you have read the section on carnet....!!! And the statements on the carnet in SA?

Sydney to Chile.
I am attempting to send my bike from Brisbane to Chile in January 2016. Narelle Lynch of BTAF have quoted almost $3K AUD, one way. This is'nt in line with what's been posted on (Actual shipments by travelers). If your interested we should stay in touch. Surely there's a better deal around!

How about airfreight...I am using German company to send my DR650 from Frankfurt to Cancun,Mexico next month, on the palette for 1590 Euros and cost on the other end is about 150E
Last year same bike I shipped sea freight from Tokyo,Japan to Rotterdam,Nederland and they rip me off with destination, unloading, charge of 500 Euro.
Air freight initial cost more but is faster and les expensive as you don't have additional cost of waiting around port.hotel,food......
Ride safe

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
