Shipping to India from Kenya
Hi
Has aonyone out there shipped to India from Mombassa? Or, shipped to India. If so any advice or contact info for shipping would be great!
Also, does anyone know the score on getting motorcycles into China? Again any advice would be great!
Thanks
Simon and Suzi
PS our web is www.mccs.co.uk/global - if your interested in where we are and what we've come across en-route!

One big tip on shipping from Mombasa to India - fly the bikes with a major carrier and be very careful. By sea is a good way to lose all or most of the bikes. See the shipping page for details on what we have - nothing on that route, but lots of good tips and ideas, shipping companies worldwide etc. (link on left)
Getitng motorcycles into China - it can be done, but you will have to pay US$100 per day for a guide and his vehicle ALL the way, plus expenses, and you will be restricted in where you can go. It's also a lot of work to organise and can take months. Very few travellers bother. Search the site for China, and you'll find tons of info.
Re your website - recommend taking your email address OFF the page, unless you want to get more spam - 80% of the spam out there comes from people who have harvested email addresses from a web page. Go to http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/obfuscate.php and use it to obfuscate / hide from the scum spammers your email address.
Finally, if you add a link to HU we'll be happy to link back to your site. See http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/adv...zonslink.shtml for details.
And don't forget to send us a note on occasion for the ezine!

Thanks for the info Grant.
Its a shame I didnt see your note until now... I have booked the bikes onto a ship bound for Bombay. It leaves on the 11th Jan and arrives 22nd. Cost 500.00 USD's plus frieght forwarding agents (110 quid). We have used a forwarder named Mitchel Cotts and a shipping line named Africa Liner Agency Mombasa (Captain Choudhury - very helpful & nice guy) .
It will be interesting to see the out come. I'm holding my breath.
As for China... well of course Jim Rogers (author of Investment Biker) never mentioned that it cost 100 USD per day....but millionaires dont need to look at the cost!
Hows Vermont??
Cheers
Simon H

Simon, when creating a post make a point of checking the box to be sent an email reply whenever there is a post/response to your question.
When the shipment is done please be sure to go to the shipping section and post it so all can benefit from your experience - either way! And good luck!
Re China, a couple of guys have done it recently without a guide, coming in from the north. Keep an eye on the site for more info as we get it.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
