Arrow Shipping within China

Well it looks like i have just organized to fly my bike from Urumqi North west to Kumming, in the south for less than 200quid including crating..
Done it with southern china airways took myself down to the airport in Urumqi..found there fright department area and gave it a shot..

had trouble communicating but was chilled took my time and had a good laugh, smiled a lot and 45mins later it was all organized not doing it till the end of the month so i will let you know how i get on..
I did try another carrier but the door on there plane was not big enough to get the bike +crate through??

Riding in China

I'm curious about your ride in China - how did you get in? Are you riding with Chinese plates? a Chinese liscence? Any other details would be appreciated as I'm currently looking into buying a bike in China and traveling around in that country only - no border crossings.

Thanks

Red face

Hello Jake. Did you get your fuelpump issue sorted out? Or is that why you need to ship your bike...anyways, congradulations. From the research i've done, very few people have managede to cross into China with their bike and travel freely, but aparently it's becoming easier. Many people on the HUBB are dying to know the details of your entry and what you've encountered within the Chinese frontier. Please provide us with some details: what boarder did you cross and what docs. were required? Are you Chinese? Have you met many other travelers on the road? If your interested in sharing your info with us, you can start a new thread. Please share with us!!

Exclamation Its all chinese to me????

Well what can i say after making it to urumqi in freezing condisions in snow and ice....pulled of the main drag, and could not keep the bike upright any longer because the weather had made roads unusable by bike

..decided i needed assistance ...

got a guy to put the bike in his van and run it to the airport, cos they had told me 10days before that they could crate the bike there...? then on arrival im told that they cant and all the dimentions that the box can be have been drasticlly reduced..??

On my return the next day with crated bike im told the maximum weight of any single item is 250kgs..which with all my gear in box it was well over so ended up sending by rail..and hope to recieve it in Kunming in 7days time..? if you wish to know more details of my trip... slowbikes.com

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
