I saw that, very interesting.
I'd add that a big fat tyre has more rubber so should last longer.
However the increased forward facing area of a rotating fat tyre increases wind resistance.
The extra weight also puts more strain on the bearings.
On the other hand a long tyre footprint hints at more roling resistance.
How this translates to a bike? I have no idea, but in general I prefer a narrower tyre if given a choice
