The most incorrect claim in that blurb is regarding the mounting of weapons in small vehicles.
The WW2 Jeeps had heavy machinegun mounting plates on the chassis from the factory. Popski's Private Army had these Jeeps in the Western Desert and Italy in many battles with the German Army. They were mounted with .50 calibre Machine Guns.
The Russian Army had hundreds of Gaz 69 cars (Jeep size 4wd) with multi barrelled rocket launchers. The Australian Army in the 60's had Land Rovers with 105 mm guns mounted in them. It would have been from these original examples that the Chads and French would have got their ideas.
All of the above vehicles were lighter and more manouverable than the Toyotas.
