Question Campsite recommendations

My impression is that there has been a surge in the number of campsites that are recommended in here; perhaps this is related to the arrival of Spring in the north of the world.

For instance, here is just one of the latest examples:-
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...-tallinn-34473
At present these are in the relevant regional forums, for want of somewhere for them to be I guess.

A twofold question then:
1.Is there scope for a dedicated forum to recommend places to camp?

2. If the answer to Q1 is no, then should such recommendations appear in the section of the website that has individual forums for recommended accommodation? (thereby being easier to find in the future).

ps This website is well on the way to replacing the LP etc:-
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...de-books-34490
With a campsite recommendation section it will be even more complete.

Re; Q1 - "accommodation" includes camping in my mind - obviously not in everyones!

Will try to clarify on the forums. Accommodation and Camping! = Places to stay / stop!

Re LP note - interesting - thanks for pointing it out!

Yes, the LP thread references to use of the internet in lieu of paper based guides is interesting.
Channel 5 TV uses the term "rough guides" - I don't know, but I would think they will have done some kind of deal with the RG publisher to use that title.
Similarly, the BBC have bought into the LP guides. For me, all of this points toward the integration of digital technology with traditional publishing - Grant, someday, you will get an offer that you can't refuse!

In the meantime, "Accommodation" works for camping for me, but it hasn't clicked that way in general.
I don't know what the universal word is to summarise the options:
Stopovers
Restplaces
?

Lumb Farm, Ripley?

I tend to agree: there is information about specific campsites scattered throughout many threads, with a whole load of more questions about campsites, equally well scattered.

Many blogs indicate that camping can be much less reliant on specific, commercial campsites once "the first world" is departed: wild camping.

Perhaps there is scope for a camping recommendation section that deals with, say, Europe and North America - see how that goes and then reconsider.

The "accommodation" forums DO include camping! They're not just for hotels - please see the updated descriptions.

I think separating the two is just over the top - way toooo many forums.

If we end up with thousands of posts in the accomm forums we can eventually split into hotel and camping if that makes sense, but for now the numbers aren't that high that it's hard to find something. They're also sorted by location, so if you need SOMEWHERE to stay you have a choice of camping or hotel, without having to look in two places.

Does that make sense? (Just 'cause it does to me doesn't mean it does to anyone else )

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
