HU registration
Someone sent me an email and said they couldn't find my profile. This reminded me that somewhere on the site I read that there are distinct registrations for HUBB and HU membership. I paid for membership when I signed up for a HU meeting, but didn't receive any membership information. Can someone straighten me out. Grant.. Susan..

Hi Jacob,
Re Profile - yours is fine, dunno why they couldn't find it other than "user error"
As for your other question - yes, they are "separate"
The HUBB is merely a bulletin board which requires registration to post on, and as such is a PART of HU overall.
"Membership" is a payment that goes to cover the sites significant expenses, and says that you believe what we are doing is worth supporting. There is NO information re Membership that is accessible to the public - it is completely private and secure.
You HAVE pointed out a gap in our systems though, so thanks for that!
What happens when someone makes a payment via PayPal or Amazon or by cheque direct to us is that Susan sends out a note saying thanks and explaining exactly what it's all about and the (minor at this time, but we know who supports us and that matters!) member benefits.
What we don't do - oops - is the same when someone takes out a membership package for a Travellers meeting - and clearly we should!
More details on exactly what it's all and benefits about are on the Souk page at http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/store/
Hope that answers it for you and others, and thanks for your support!

Hey Grant,
I know your busy, but I am still confused. The Souk explains the benefits, but for someone who is registered where do you go to see your profile. What if I want to update my profile. Where do I go.

Jacob,
Yes it is a little confusing - we have too many systems not connected. I'm working on that, promise!
In the meantime, the "profile" referred to is your HUBB profile. Just click on "profile" just under the "Post New Topic" button above, and you're there. Feel free to update it anytime.
"Registered" is a word referring to the HUBB only.
"Membership" refers to "being a supporter of HU," with the Souk 'benefits'.
We also request you to "Register" for a Travellers Meeting - and you can take out Membership there.
You can also "Subscribe" to the Ezine.
Finally, there is a LOGIN/Registration system for the shipping system. This is the beginning of an overall "Registration for everything" which will be your single "profile".
At the moment, unless you have a shipment you've done to enter, it does nothing but put all your information in one place - only accessible to us at the moment.
It's at http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/login/
Feel free to input your info into that system - DO make sure you use the same password as you currently use on the HUBB, and the same email address.
Yep, confusing - hope this makes it a little less confusing. Any more questions please ask - yes I'm busy, but this stuff comes first.
Grant

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
