New feature on HU: structured equipment reviews
There's a new and experimental feature on Horizons Unlimited. Structured Equipment Reviews.
At the moment you can find a form to enter a review at http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/node/add/content_equipment_review [you have to be logged in to fill out a review] and a list of the reviews at http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/equipment/reviews. As I write, that list is empty. Once there are sufficient reviews, we'll add some widgets so that you can sort and filter the reviews.
We'll also be switching on comments on the reviews shortly, and they'll be mirrored into the HUBB Equipment/Reviews group.
And we'll be giving this menu entries once we're sure that we've ironed out any bugs.
So if you've got some equipment that you love or hate, have a go, tell everyone else about it, and help us to test whether it's working properly or not.
If this works out, we'll add other sorts of structured reviews. Trip reviews anyone? Any other sort of review?
Comments are very welcome; help us to make it better.
Jeff

Very welcome
Well overdue.
Take tyres for example; the same type of comment about MetzDunPirel or whatever comes around regularly on any thread that relates to that brand of tyre, because someone has fitted them on a particular bike.
The KTM thread has been building some data about the various years of manufacture and which are most reliable; that would be another case for better structure.
Then there are all the threads about camping kit; enough said methinks.

Can add more
We've got space for things like pros & cons, price, review, pictures, rating, categories, manufacturer and model but if anyone thinks of anything else that would be really useful to record for all reviews, let us know.

Hi Jeff
It would be great when asking for contributions, if you would do more than the minimum in your public profile. Openness encourages openness ...whaddaya think?

Denis, what matters is that Jeff is our super geek/techie - and doesn't ride. So it's all kinda irrelevant don't you think?

New to Horizons Unlimited?
New to motorcycle travelling? New to the HU site? Confused? Too many options? It's really very simple - just 4 easy steps!
Horizons Unlimited was founded in 1997 by Grant and Susan Johnson following their journey around the world on a BMW R80G/S.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
