Maybe this (important) thread should not be in the HU Bar as some people think all thats posted here is utter tosh and not visit the bar.
Thanks Denis for bringing this to everyones attention, perhaps people should know who the pannier supplier is that gets custom on the back of HU, others may not be aware about 'hit counters' and search engines when it comes to blogging, I certainly didn't!.
Perhaps people do not post pictures on the hubb due to relevent difficulty re sizing, I know I have a problem and have only ever posted a few pictures, a site run by friends seems to only accept photos via 'photo bucket' (should be fcuket as I 'lost a batch of pictures trying it, never again). HU needs our support especially from UK and European members, as I find ADV, although a good site totally blows my mind!.

Yeah !! I think there are many people who benefit greatly from the info they get on the hubb so a few subscriptions would be only fitting !
The more venenue, hopefully less advertising and maybe keeping the event costs from going up too much.
Hopefully
So people, get your memberships in. $20 isn't going to hurt most of us. You couldn't even buy a 3 pack of Touratech zip tie for that !

This comes up every year and the same ideas come up. In the end Grant is doing his job it is the people on the Hub that need to step up.
For example the HU meeting in California for 3 years we talked about it. Till some one steps up and said I will do this it did not get done. I did now we have a California meeting.
If we want more ride reports looks like some one needs to post them and dam it when some one spends the time to post give them some positive feedback. Want HU to grow we need to start building it up. It is not like we do not have or know the people to do that. We know or sometimes are the who is who in world adventure travel not some second hand "I was told by some one who saw some one riding the world" OH NO we did it, do it and wrote the dam book.
Look at all the bogger and other places people post up on there is a Horizons Unlimited posting some place. Even the long way down got info from us and the other people that helped them? They got it from HU as well.
But enof of my ranting down to some ideas. Well we have many blueprints of what we can do to make some money. Some off the top of my head.
1. Some HU synthetic shirts on the backs of more people allwas funny to see them on the other web pages. Grant may need to give some away to people who are ridding the world so long as we get some advertising it may be worth the price.
2. Top bag and or dry bag, got to be made good S.S. net around that a HU item and recommended.
3. A HU Al. panniers HU logo with the globe it can be pressed in to the Al. before the box is made. A few in picks of bikes doing the world with a some vary well known people and we are gold.
4. Hate to say but print magazine may well help. Many have come hear asking for a storey or two we can do that but a HU magazine may well do better. Along with how to guides and where to go. Some times this will sell more ads than a web page.
5. Grant may need to brake down and get some help from someone in marketing.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
