A new start
Wednesday 09:00 hrs. BMW dealer in Newcastle rang. The new GS800 is ready (almost). 09:30 hrs I get away for the 264km run to get the new motorcycle. This final ride on the Suzuki DL650 has reminded me how much I enjoyed the bike...but...something better awaits! And, so it was that some 3 or 4 hours later I took delivery of my first BMW. Changing over my 'stuff' from the old DL I was caught for a moment with memories of the old bike but it didn't take long to become caught up in the practicalities of the new GS 800. Brand new Anakee 3s cause me to very gently work my way home but without any problems, I finally get back. The only thing missing from the bike was the Garmin Zumo harness, cradle and ram mount which is 'on back order'. The only problem on my return trip, was missing the turn off to Cumberland highway due to no GPS, and ending up in peak hour traffic in Chatswood. And so, the new bike. Fantastic. First service due Monday morning back in Newcastle then it becomes a workhorse as Lida and I ready ourselves for a 6 week jaunt up to Darwin and down through the center in May...all going well. We still wait for Lida's new lowered GS 650 to arrive (from Germany) but I am always optimistic and do not expect problems. Have attached a few photos of the new 800 taken yesterday before setting out on a 100 km trip to Lithgow via Hartley Vale. Verdict. Fantastic . What a bike. Lida and I look forward to the future with the BMWs and to our association with Horizons Unlimited. Rod

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
