Another Canuck
as Dr. Nick would put it "hey Everybody!"
im new to the forum... heard about it from LAZ1 and thought it would be worth checking out.
Ill start off with a little about myself, i work for the Canadian Coast Guard as a Senior engineer, which means i get 4 weeks off every other 4 weeks... paid... and i just baught my first "adventure" bike. a 2011 DL650 with the adventure package. LOVE the bike. and am looking forward to doing some trips on it.
my first "big" trip will be baja mexico in march. then maybe the mojave after i hit overland Expo in May, but we will see. speaking of which anyone gonna be there?
What i would really like to do is fly my bike down to southern SA and ride home. im married one year now and would preferably like to do the trip 2 up... or maybe i can get my wife on her own bike we will have to see.
so that is me. Cody, Cody1771 as i am on ALL boards i sign up on. i wouldnt be suprised if im recognized from other sites as i am a forum addict hehe.
one quick question that the search function failed me on. is there a list for a full set of tools for my bike? im sure i could put one together with some work but a complete list would be great if anyone knows of one or maybe a thread. thanks!
oh yeah... grew up freeriding, and Downhill racing, then progressed into Dirtbikes so off road is nothign new to me. i got into 4x4'ing (overlanding) for a number of years after graduating college but got sick of poor gas milage and expensive operating costs. so went back to what i enjoy most being on 2 wheels!

Hey Cody,
Seems we are both new to this site but welcome none the less. So far I really enjoy all the research this site offers about travelling by bike. I'm also curious about the tool thing for the Wee also as we just got my wife a 2k7 Wee. However a better place to search for that would be on the Stromtrooper forum. I haven't gotten quite that far yet, seem to have all the tools I need for anything I've done to it, which is to say not much. I am in the process of installing some lowering links so my wife can flatfoot though.
You may already be aware of Stromtooper and there's also another adventure type community ADVrider. If you can't find your answer here I think the other 2 will definitely help.
My wife and I are both really looking forward to the HUBB meeting here in Ontario next year, in fact I think we'll end up going to the one in NC also.
Anyway, nice to meet a fellow Strom owner here, really love the looks of those cases btw.
Cheers,
Mark

thanks for the response, im a member of ADV and Strom, i have posted on ADV but have yet to with Strom, i kind of tend to stay away from manufacturer specific sites and i tend to get tunnel vision when on them heh. unfortunatly i am at work right now and the internet filters filter out ALL forum sites exept HU, how funny is that? lol.

Welcome to the both of you.
Yes, for sure attend a HU Meeting close to you and get the DVD series as well. There is a ton of info on those DVD's + it helps support the site as well.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
