Another newbie

Hi to all forum members

I have been occasionally lurking around here for the last 6 months as well as on the Adventure Bike Rider forum. I suppose from the start, I would classify myself as a motorcyclist who has started to develop an unhealthy interest in overland travel rather than an overlander for whom a motorcycle is just a means of ‘getting there’

I’ve been riding since 1991 & had quite a few road bikes (mainly race reps) over the years. The back now aches & knees creak so even if I wanted, riding the latest Ninja Kamikaze 1300, isn’t a comfortable option. In any case, as I’ve gotten older but not wiser, both my interests & tastes have changed somewhat

At the moment I have 3 bikes: a 660Z Tenere

a 660X for hooning around town & a Ducati Monster which I use when I want to ride, but feel the need to leave my brain at home

Turning to matters 4-wheeled for the moment, I also have 2 Land Rovers, a Discovery & a 110 Defender CSW which is pretty much expedition ready & enough kit in the barn to get me round the world at least a couple of times. So, some of you might be thinking “Mr FM, why the hell aren’t you out on the road then” & this morning, as I sit in my air conditioned office in London, I am asking myself the exact same question

A very big to you and all your toys to the HUBB. May you find the time to use them to the full.

Personally I have only 1 piece of equipment and struggle to find the time to use it to its full ability...

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
