Greetings from Sunny Brighton
Hello all, just a quick introduction really. I’ve been living in Brighton for a few years now. Grew up around bikes (my Dad was a cafe racer in the 50's and a motorcycle copper in the 70's) but I was never allowed one. The first time I rode a bike ('77) was the last time I fell off. Since then I’ve had the obligatory scooter on holiday.
A few years back I was travelling India and I hired an Enfield and fell in love with the open road. Alas, I forgot about the joys of travelling on 2 wheels until last year when I caught a re-run of the Long Way Round (I can hear you groan…) Strange as it may sound, it had never really occurred to me to go travelling by bike before. So, in a hurry, mid-winter, I bought my current bike and proceeded to pine for safe riding weather - whilst I have covered many miles wearing little more than sun glasses, I promised myself I would wipe my memory clean, start from scratch and learn to ride in a way that would keep me alive. Anyway, Spring sprung and I was Googleing motorcycle travel books (and having my mid-life crisis - which is still in full swing) and found Uneasy Rider (I can now hear a sigh of relief…) and that’s how I ended up here. So you see, you can say what you want about EM & CB, but they brought me to the HUBB.
I joined an unofficial Yamaha owners’ website (the most official of them) and found it a solitary place so I’ hoping for better things on HU!
My plan is to get this pesky test thing out of the way, get a 650(ish) and head down to Andalucía in August. I’ve got a hell of a lot to learn in a short time so I’m hoping HU will help out and prove a good companion en-route.
Cheers...

Thanks guys - I'm certainly going to try to make it to the meet. Just gotta plan my month out. One of the things that attracted me to travelling lots was NOT have to plan my months (when I didn't have a 9-5).
Currently I'm still on my TDR125 - hoping to get my test out of the way in the next couple of weeks. Can't wait - we've done a fair few miles over tha last couple of months and I don't like to discriminate, but the sound of a 2-stroke is starting to grate :-)

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
