Hello from Germany, let's go for an adventure
Hello all,
I am the Rainer, come from near Munich and ride next to my XT660R still a VFR1200f
After a four-week tour to the North Cape with my VFR (incl. offroad ^^) in 2019, the wanderlust has grabbed me on the bike.
Since then I have crisscrossed Europe (on and off road).
For some time I've been toying with the idea of a multi-year motorcycle trip and have now decided that I will actually tackle this adventure.
Originally, I wanted to head east to Australia in early 2023 and ride a similar route as, for example, Bea and Helle from Time to Ride.
Due to the current situation in Ukraine, I have now decided to start with the Panamericana in Halifax (May/June 2023) and then cross over to New Zealand/Australia.
If you plan to ride the Panamericana in the foreseeable future or if you are planning a bigger tour in general, please feel free to contact me at any time, as it is definitely nicer to travel in pairs or threes than alone.
Best regards
Rainer

Hi Rainer
Welcome to Horizons Unlimited.
I don’t know the route that they followed on Time to Ride but assuming that it went into Ukraine / Russia I think that your decision is very understandable! The ever changing political situations around the world blows everyone off their preferred course - the important thing is to keep moving forward.
How were you planning on coming back from Australia or is that too far ahead?
Keep the site informed of what you are up to on your journey and don’t forget that the Communities section on Horizons Unlimited want to be contacted by people travelling through their area.
All the best

Hi Jay,
thank you very much for the nice welcome.
On my way home from Australia i would like to travel through the following countries
Indonesia
Malaysia
Singapore
Cambodia
Thailand
Laos
From there it depends again on the Ukraine conflict.
Should this be over by then, I would consider Russia, Mongolia, Kazkhstan.... drive.
Should the situation not be clarified until then I would go south via India, Pakistan, Iran and Turkey....
With pleasure I keep you up to date
Best regards
Rainer

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
