Hello- Newb in Florida
Hello all-
Just would like to introduce myself. Always been interested in travel, although somewhat limited by circumstance and other commitments. Done a bit of sailboat cruising in the past. Full time employed, approaching part-time/retirement in next couple years. Came to motorcycling late in life, never been a dirt rider. Currently have a 2010 Goldwing, not exactly the ideal adventure bike, but I have taken it up to Alaska, (bailed out on the Dalton after about 2 miles) did the AlCan and Top of the World. Just now back from a trip up to Newfoundland and across the TransLabrador Highway. I know it is pretty civilized compared to many adventures on here, but it was enough to stimulate my interest. Have signed up for the NC event in October.
While I tend to be bike and gear oriented, I recognize my greatest need is skill building. After starting street riding, I saw a need to improve my bike handling and so bought a SV650 track bike and took novice rider classes and did a few track days, learned tons. Now considering getting a dual sport/off road type bike to get some experience off pavement. I would be appreciative if anyone can point me in the right direction either nearby venues or courses or just a local mentor.
