Hola from Victoria BC

New to the site this afternoon, actually found it accidentally while googling for trip and road reports about Mexico. Wow! Lots of good information here. Although I've not travelled as much nor as far as some I do like to get away on my KLR650. My last big trip was to Mexico - Dec 28 2013 thru Feb 18 2014. From SD to Mexico and back to SD 8500 kms (Solo)

As I left in December, I vanned my bike to my cousin's place in San Diego. Leaving the van in her driveway I headed to Tucson AZ and crossed the border at Nogales. I rode as far south as Zihuatanejo and as far east as Toluca. Then back to Mazatlan to see friends who have retired there. Then the long ride back to San Diego. I saw many interesting places and met great people everywhere I went.

The coolest bit of riding was Mxn Hwy 200 from Tecoman to Lazaro Cardenas. It's only 275 kms but it takes the best part of six hours as it is so twisty for so much of the distance.

A friend and I are heading to Mexico late this coming December for another two month semi-aimless adventure. If any one has suggestions of places or routes please let me know.

To our co-host Grant - you and I used to work in the m/c biz at Amor Sales when they were on Victoria Drive in Vancouver, IIRC you were riding a Ducati 250 scrambler then. Email me we can catch up on 40 some years.

Here are a few pics of my trusty steed in Mexico . .

The Copper Canyon is on the list. It is a long way in and out from Hwy 15 on the coast from what I can see on my Mexico wall map sitting right in front of me. Not to mention one has to pass thru the "Golden Triangle" where the narcos grow pot and opium. I have a friend here in Victoria who has been there twice so I will chat with him. Like many spots down there one should check the Mexican news feeds to be aware of the latest goings on.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
