Lovers of the Journey
A life long traveler and motorcyclist, I kept seeing travelers with bikes. I would talk to them and when I stopped traveling for a while would tell my sweetie "we should take a motorcycle some time" It all started with renting a scooter in Thailand about 7 years back. I could see that these riders where seeing/experiencing more but actually doing it myself.... well there was no turning back, the level of adventurer and engagement had taken a big boost by having a little motor to free me from the common tourist route. After another winter in South America about 6 years back I decided to get an old beat KLR. I bought it on Craigs List in Seattle, spent the afternoon working on it with friends then the following day made the 200mile ride home over the mountains in the Spring weather (snowing in the pass, stopping to fill my wet gloves with warm exhaust) Since then I have been riding every year on my climbing trips in Nepal on a little Chinese Suzuki 125 (thanks Ang Tsering). Last winter at a bar I met Belinda and Patrick Peck while they where motoring around Sri Lanka (what a amazing couple... you guys rock!). When I told them that I had a small presence on ADV they said I should check out HU. Well here I am and I'm planning on riding the old blue KLR up to Alaska from E-Washington State(U$@) and trying to climb one of the longest routes on Denali (the Muldrow glacier route). The stories and information here are inspiring. obviously this is where we all belong, drinking deeply of this incredible crazy exuberance called life.
