New from SE British Columbia
Hi, I am new here, new to adventure touring, but been riding for close to half a century. This is a new motorcycle direction for me. I purchased an '08 Buell Ulysses which I am doing some detailing on to get it ready for riding this year. The plan is to sort out my riding and my bike, then decide on whether or not it will be my permanent bike, or I will up the ante with a new bike. Future plans are to put all my "stuff" into storage, and go. It is unknown where to, or for how long.
No plans, no destinations ..... just roads &

The first bit of work...
Here is a shot of the first bit of work I have done on my Uly. I have a 2 Gallon RotoPax gas can and a RotoPax accessory box mounted to the rear tail rack, which is in the forward position. This increases my range by about 50% and if I added a second gas can, by 100%. The accessory box will hold my tools, tire pump, first aid, flashlight, etc, etc. The top bag is a FirstGear 70 ltr waterproof bag that will hold all of my camping gear.
This puts the weight where I want it, low and above the rear tire. I don't carry passengers so the space was best used in a better way.
I also have for the bike a Nelson Rigg tank bag that is not in this picture. And the windshield is a new Zero Gravity attached to an adjustable mount.
On the top of the panniers there is enough room for my Klim riding pants and Jacket, one on each side. Also, my lightweight tripod will be tied to the top of the pannier.
I have a set of Aluminum panniers and an Aluminum top box that will be going on next. Although I am not crazy about a top box, it is where I will keep my camera and computer gear.
I am mounting the Aluminum panniers and the top box to the Buell racks, so I have to fab up brackets. I should have them done this week. As soon as I get them mounted I will post a pict.
The Uly was a Barn Fresh find and still needs some cleaning. It has less than 20,000 km on it.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
