New to all this HI
HI everyone thought we should come on here and introduce ourselves. We are a couple currently at the very very early stages of planning a RTW trip. Im Richie and i am currently in the army and about to give my 12months notice to leave in NOV this year and Jennie is currently living and working with me in Germany. We plan on leaving Jan 01 2011 so plenty to sort out till then
I have been riding for nearly two years now and jennie has been riding about 2 months we sold our cars for bikes and dont plan on having a car again for a long time!! At present i have a zx6r G2 and jennie has a ER6F we will sell these before we leave for more money along with my house in the uk which will go on the market FEB next year. having looked at this site many times dreaming time away at work i decided why the hell not just do it we have no children and there is no better time than now, you all seem like a really helpfull bunch on here and we are ready to learn as much as we can, just need to write something under heading on our piece of A4 titled RTW ROUTE lol.
thanks already
Richie and Jennie

Hi Richie and Jennie and welcome. I don't doubt you're joining a fine band of people with bits of A4 paper, BUT some of them are full.
Have you read Birdy's blog? Birdy85 | Joel Burdall | Travel Blog he's an army man too, not that you'll be just wanting to hang round with soldiers, of course, but I've loved the inspiration they're giving me, it reminds me that the ride is the most important not the gear.

Hi
Thank you for linking that blog we are from Coventry in the uk originally too so the story is a little closer to home than I thought, and your right I have read just a few pages and already im starting to think that way. It looks as if they are really enjoying themselves without getting too technical with all the latest kit and bikes and his descriptions are great. Definitely a good source of inspiration there im going to follow his trip

Good Luck!
Hi Richie & Jen
Sounds like a great plan and we are between Banbury and Chipping Norton, so drop in when you are next around for a cuppa and chat. PM for details.
Cheers
Chris & Di

I was stationed there in the early 80's, in Aschaffenburg. I love the place. Lots of travel opportunities and Germany is so centrally located.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
