Prevet (Hello) from Kyrgyzstan
I am an American living in Kyrgyzstan. I have an orphanage in Sukuluk, just outside of Bishkek. If you are traveling from Osh to Bishkek you must go through our village. We have only one stop light in town. At that light if you head toward the mountains and drive almost 1km you will come to our orphanage. We have a place where you can camp, and can help if you need something.
I ride a 2008 KLR. If you would like to take a trip through some of our mountain passes just let me know.
One thing I think would be a great help on HU would be an emergency list. A list of folks around the world that would be willing to help motorcyclist who are in trouble. We just picked up a German man that was traveling from Germany to Nepal. His chain broke and busted the casing. His trip was finished if we would not have helped him. We were able to get him a new motor and provide him with support and he is now back on his way.
This is a great tool for good information. Thanks for letting me be part of it.
Mac.

Hello
Hi Mac
Great to hear you're there - and what an amazing country to live in. Welcome to HU, no doubt there will be many wanting to visit. Kyrgyzstan is my favourite amongst the 'Stans.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
