Talking This is wizz, ciao from Italy!

Ciao to all!
I’m reading this forum from many months, and I just decided to join it.
My name is Alessandro, but everybody is calling me “wiz”, I’m currently based in Italy from all my 27 years old, I live in Lugo di Romagna (Ravenna province), just an hour away from Bologna and Rimini, and a couple of hours from Florence and Venice.

I’m riding a motorcycle from when I was around 16: it was the only way to get the city from the small village where I’m living, that’s not having any good public connection (no train – some bus).
First it was just a 50cc scooter, then at 19 I get into a Yamaha SR 250 Classic (for which I spent all my 1.500€ savings at that time ), then on an Honda CBR 600 F Sport (F4i) that took me to tracks and races world and to motocross (as a winter training while we couldn’t get to the tracks).
Then, in 2009 I seized my Yamaha 250 for the second time, so I decided to get bigger vehicle for the road as well: I got a fantastic Honda CBF 600 S, dated 2008, with just 4.000 kilometers! So after being my daily-means-of-travel (also in winter), I got into travelling as well.

I thought I could get anywhere with this very big bike, so I widened my travel’ destinations, in Italy at first (Sicily was the best trip, 5.000 km in 2 weeks!), then in Europe: I discovered the Elefantentreffen meeting in Germany, taking place every year in the end of January, then in 2012 I made my first big tour with a group of friends, heading to Russia through the Baltics, getting to Saint Petersburg and Moscow.

That winter, due to my job, I was in Australia for many weeks, then during Christimas time I had a stop in Thailand, alone. I rented a scooter and I started traveling through this wonderful country, alone, and I discovered a new way to enjoy places and meet people. Hereafter, I never stopped.

In 2013 I’ve been traveling to Poland and Kaliningrad Region during spring time, then to Nordkapp in summer, every time alone but never feeling like that. In winter I had two free weeks again, I was looking for renting a bike again in Thailand or maybe Perù, but price for airplane tickets and rent were too expensive. And I wanted to try a real winter travel, in the cold: let’s head again to Moscow!

Temperature was not so cold, but the trip will be unforgettable…

I get too long in writing, as usual, so I will tell something more in the forum!

See you around!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
