Bike rental
Stuart,
Don't know if Ideal Motor Sport still rents bikes, but drop them a mail. Owner Steven Lee is a top guy. Website: Welcome to the website of IDEAL MOTOR SPORTS PTE LTD
I lived in Malaysia for 10 years, so if you need any route advice for Malaysia at least, drop me a mail / post.
Enjoy,
Hamish

Chiang Mai
If you're in North Thailand, you can hire Honda Xr250/Ax1 from Joe Bike Team/Mr Dang , respectively, in Chiang Mai.700 Baht per day should cover it.If you're in the South then you can rent big bikes (Suzuki 1200) from an outfit in Khao Lak,a dive centre about 1hr north of Phuket. Good luck!

XR400 solidly reliable and easy to come by.
I used the XR250 and it was plenty for me and likewise built like a tank
I tortured that bike and it never once let me down.

Bike Rental in Chiang Mai
We used Mr. Mechanic in Chiang Mai and rented 450 and 650 cc Hondas. Total cost for 11 days of rental was about $250.00 US. They do keep your passport though, which would make a border cross out, but perhaps you could leave a photo copy of your passport and something else for collateral? I'm sure they would work something out with you.
address: 4 Soi Moonmuang Rd. T. Sriphum A. Muang Chiang Mai 50200
telephone: 053-214708 cell: 01-8824402

Good luck and have fun!! Lynn Anderson

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
