Car travel - England to Japan
My girlfriend and I are taking our Honda Civic back to its spiritual home in Japan. Any advice on procuring visas for Pakistan and India en-route in Iran and Pakistan respectively? Any similar sites to Horizon Unlimited for overland car travel or any personal web sites which may have useful info? Is there any way of getting through the borders of Iran, Pakistan and India without purchasing insurance there, as presumably it's more expensive.
Many thanks.

Hi there,
We rode through Iran, Pakistan and India without any vehicle insurance. No one ever asked to see any and we're not sure if it's worth the paper it's written on anyway...!?!
There's a post in this section that says what we did for visas through that part of the world.... no real problems (for us anyhow) getting them along the way.
Love the idea.......!
Good luck with it, Jim and Lisa

Hi Jim @ Lisa....
Thanks for your reply about the insurance situation with regard to Iran/Pak/India. It does not surprise me what you say and just want to clarify that you guys were never asked to show it. I have heard that at some borders insurance is sold, presumably at high prices.
Wondering as you posted something about Indonesia, whether you know anything about shipping vehicles out of either India/Bangla/SE Asia/China over the China Sea to Japan.
We're not great planners and would just leave it all to serendipity but the RAC want something a little more thought through in order to issue the Carnet.
Any advice you can give is greatly appreciated....
Thanks
Jon
