China : Druzba now close for motos/cars

Hi bikers,

Just to inform you that the gate of Druzba between Kazakhstan and China is nowadays close for motorbikes and cars if you do not have all your documents in chinese (driving licence / immatriculation / ...etc).

Previoulsly it was a gate , let say "flexible" or at least not as strict as the ones more in the south. But now the opportunity to cross over the border is finished... no need to go there , you will be refused.

There are two other gates more in the north of Kazakhstan but I do not know if it is possible to pass through them without difficulties. If you have any experience of these , just let me know and please give a precise feedback regarding the date you experienced it.

Thanks and have a safe trip

Simon

Hi,

I just started a thread regarding border crossing Kz - China. I do have a chinese driving license, plates/papers and insurance, but no official import papers for the bike - do you think that's sufficient? Btw, are those borders open every day or only at certain times?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
