India and Thailand to be Linked by Road
A landmark road project to boost tourism and trade by laying a road linking northeastern India and western Thailand through Myanmar has been agreed upon by the governments of the three Asian nations. The 1600km (1000mi) highway will be completed in two years. Foreign ministers of the three countries met in Yangon, capital of Myanmar, over the weekend and pledged to complete the highway from Moreh in India to Mae Sot town in Thailand through Bagan in Myanmar. Many stretches of the corridor already exist and only need to be improved. The move comes just days after direct flights began linking the northeastern Indian city of Guwahati with Bangkok. Until now, there were no direct flights from abroad to northeastern India."
Time to sell my shares in Kathmandu cargo services, or perhaps not just yet.
Bets are now open on the completion date.
5,6 or 7 years?
