I have a Nepal bike with CDP currently stored in Kat, my understanding is that you cannot keep a bike in any 'foreign country' for more than 6 mths on a CDP. Not a problem for me, obviously, but as your CDP is only valid for a year anyway, I doubt you would want to leave it anywhere that long.

I left my bike in Pokhara, and went to Thailand and back for 2 weeks. The bike can be in Nepal for up to 6 months, although I stayed in for 8 months. When I left the country, the border guards were confused enough at having to stamp a carnet, I don't think they knew about the 6 month restriction..

My bike stayed more than 5 months in Nepal, and during this period I flew back my country and then back to Nepal again. As the Fern written in his post I also don't think that the border guards knew about the 6 month restriction.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
