I have formed a Google group for interested travellers so we might be able to
share quotes, ideas etc. and hopefully find some compatible travellers
Myanmar-2015@googlegroups.com to request to join.

Great to see there's so many people coming together for Myanmar in early 2015!
I'm planning to do it around March, will be in SEA from Mid January, so also looking to get into India this way. However, depending on the bike I''ll get I may be interested in doing a loop and returning to Thailand as well, then fly to Nepal...
Looking forward to see how this develops!

Woman walking Myanmar
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to Horizons Unlimited. In fact, I'm new to forums. I heard about HU while walking across the Gibb River Rd in Western Australia. A young lad who was riding his motorcycle RTW stopped to offer me water and some gatorade. He mentioned this might be a good place to connect with travelers, especially if I'm in need of advice or assistance.
I am a woman walking solo around the world. I walk mostly on donations and share 10% to an organization supporting girls and women. I don't have a big budget but in times of need I won't hesitate to spend what I have, especially if I need to pay for a permit or a guide to get across Myanmar. I am determined to cross Myanmar without having to take a bus due to Visa and transit restrictions. I have walked every step so far and hoping that Myanmar won't change that.
However, I am having two challenges in particular with Myanmar.
1. Getting a permit to cross from Thailand at Tachileik and then on to India via Tamu. I won't be going into Yangon (where the permit offices are) but rather staying North just above Mandalay so I can attempt to make it to the Tamu border before my Visa expires. I have heard that even with a permit for the Tamu border crossing- an expired Visa (even by one day) can be rejected for entrance.
2. Making it across Myanmar in 28 days. I will have to walk about 50 km (31 miles) a day. This may be grueling but with some help it can be done.
Does anyone have any connections to the right company that can help me get the permits for the border crossing if I can't make it in person?
I'm also open to paying for a guide if I absolutely have to to travel beyond Tachileik.
Or, for those of you that are riding across soon, keep an eye out, I pull an orange and black cart behind me that has a sign reading She Walks the Earth. (She Walks the Earth - Woman walks the world) I'd love to share a cup of tea ;-)
PS- I may not make it to Myanmar by April, it may be more like May-June- or July. I am currently walking north in Viet Nam on Ho Chi Minh.
Thank you!
Angela

.. GO Angela!
It's gonna be HOT and very humid - and growing wetter - in that region (inc the subcontinent) at that time of year Angela. Please prepare yourself.
'Athena' has wheels, therefore you have definitely come to the right forum to seek whatever help and support you might need going forward.
Best of luck with your endeavors.
My respect
Keith
PS - Nice website you have there at: shewalkstheearth.com
( a shameless plug for you .. )

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
