I live here, I ride here (quite a bit), and I know what works here.

If the advice sounds "worrying", that's something I'm not really concerned with. I'm simply telling you what works here, FWIW. Better be prepared to leave a lot of your road rules/concepts such as "right of way" back home, or you will learn soon enough about what works here, the hard way.

There is a method in the madness or "carnage" (if you prefer), and not switching off your spot lamp or HID when oncoming traffic keeps the high beams on is simply one of them.

It will be difficult, but we will just have to manage without you here. It would have been so nice to have you here in India sharing your vast store of knowledge with the misguided (and with those who have 6 headlamps).

On the brighter side, as you will not have to apply your philosophy here, at least you stand no immediate risk of being squashed to the thickness of a chapati prior to going topsides (or wherever).

Have a nice day.

did you go?

Monsoon season just kicking off, very hot wet and sticky but fewer tourists, Take uk license and hire a bike. We rode at night time, I know you shouldn't but how do you get out and about for night bazarre, meals, bars etc just take it easy and ride half the speed of everyone else.
Further north the seasons are nearer to our own

Monsoon season is a bit later, about 4th week of May in the south, and much later up north. That said, I do not have a Phd in predicting the weather.

Up in the mountains will be cooler at this point of time.

I had a seizure. The good part was the doc thought I broke my back but the radiologist said it's not broken. I have to postpone India so instead of leaving for Delhi on May 21st, I'll leave end of July. I don't have a date picked out yet. I was hoping to get there before the monsoon season but hey, everyone likes a good hot shower.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
