Recommended Hotel/Hostel in Bangkok
Hi all,
We are heading to Bangkok soon, and hoping someone can recommend a good place to stay, with a bit of a traveller vibe, parking for the motorbike, and not too expensive! Thinkingold town / khao san area.
Or maybe it's easy enough to just turn up and find somewhere, but I get the impression that BKK is too busy for this? Anyone done this successfully?
Looking forward to responses, and Happy New Year!

Hi you 2,
we stayed at the bluefin gesthouse
Directions to Bluefin Guesthouse in Bangkok - Bangkok City Map
its cheap and has safe parking (in the fenced garden). Its in a Thai neighborhood with loots of good and cheap food. We liked it there.
We have also met a couple of other bikers there.
Happy New Year

Does anyone know whether the Bluefin Guesthouse also rents out rooms for just two or three days? We'll be in Bangkok this November but don't want to stay for an entire week yet the webseit only offers weekly and monthly rates.

Try the lampuhouse, it's the general go to place for overlanders in the Kao Sarn area, and has safe parking. A little more expensive than the others in the area, but also a little nicer. It fills up quickly though, so advance booking may be necessary.
However, if you're just around for 2 days, don't have a bike with you, and don't have special whishes, I don't think you need to reserve anything. Just hop on to the tourist bus from Suvannabum to Kao Sarn and you'll find plenty of hostels for all kind of tastes and wallets. Personally I don't like the Kao Sarn area, and would recommend to leave Bangkok straight away, but if you absolutely must stay for whatever reason, it tends to be the easiest option.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
