Route from UK to India

I'm sure someone has done it!

Has anyone got a map that shows a route requiring minimal (if any) offroading?
And also, what is considered a reasonable timeframe to allow for a non-rushed or hurried trip for such a journey, assuming you were going to Mumbai?
Oh, perhaps I should mention........the trip is on 2 wheels!!

Hi Chris ,
Have a look at Alex's blog here at HU Traveller Alexandros Papadopoulos's Ride Tale
He did the route in 2009/2010 and finished in Mumbai too. I think I remember him telling me the roads were great almost all through, except few parts here in India. Some parts of our highways are great offroading tracks, especially in the monsoon .
Do give me a shout when you are in Mumbai.

Daniel

Although this is very sad news, it could be worth noting for overlanders planning routes to/from India...

Starting off with Gordon May's route wouldn't be a bad idea Route As far as I know he did zero off roading.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
