Turkey->Iran->Pakistan border-to-border tour

Hello,

I am working up logistics/pricing for a cross-Iran tour, which for me an a US citizen/US passport holder, means a having a guide. My plan is to be on a motorcycle, traveling eastward from the Turkey/Iran border to Pakistan. I'd like to see some historical/interesting places, not just burn across. Timing-wise, my hope is to begin the tour sometime between mid-May and mid-June. I'm in touch with a tour provider and have provided a list of places and rough dates.

(Also considering crossing into Iran from Iraqi Kurdistan. Researching...)

So, some questions:

1. Has anyone done this in the recent past, and if so, any advice or insights to share?

2. Is anyone interested in joining? 2 or 4 wheels OK! The more, the merrier (also cheaper)

Thanks,
Sean

In case anyone is interested in knowing, I received a quote for a Turkey->Pakistan tour through the usual "greatest hits" historic cities/sites, 15 nights and 16 days: 3510€ in total
This is for me on a motorcycle, guide in their own vehicle.
Included:
Accommodation
Tourguide

Visa
Health insurance
Vehicle insurance

Excluded:
Entrance fees
Road taxes
Meals

Greetings from Switzerland.
So my visa for Iran will only be approved if I do not enter with the motorcycle. Reason given by the relevant ministries/department is "the current situation". (For those of you reading this in the future, there is currently a hot war in Israel with Hamas and Hezbollah, and the usual proxies are supporting their sides.)

The tour operator said that the moto could be trucked to the Pakistan border. Cost for truck transport unknown at this time.

Greetings from Isfahan, Iran.
I crossed into Iran from Iraqi Kurdistan at Haji Omaran on 15 June. Took a few hours, mostly border guys waiting for callbacks from HQ. Everyone polite.
The bike was loaded onto a truck and it arrived at the Pakistan border a few days later. Cost for trucking and storage was USD$400.
Meanwhile I am enjoying a 15 day tour of Iran, being driven in air-conditioned comfort with a guide. Which is not bad at all!

Best,
Sean

Greetings from Zahedan, 100kma from the Taftan border crossing.
Arrived today and laid eyes on my moto, safely stored in shade behind the regional museum. All appears well, if a bit dusty.
Tomorrow morning I'll top up with fuel,, and make the trip to Taftan and say farewell to this fine country and its lovely people.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
