Tyres in Indonesia
Hello folks;
I got a very little used TKC front tyre given in Thailand for my Africa Twin and have done quite a few miles on it since and it is wearing pretty fast. I am currently in Malaysia. It won't last all the way through Indonesia but I think Sumatra should be do-able. Do you know if it's possible to get 90/90-21 front tyre in Indonesia (preferably Java)? I don't really fancy going into Jakarta though, but will do if I have to. I found that there BMW Indonesia is in Bali but that just might be a corporate office? And read that Bandung might be a good place for big bike bits but no 100% info on tyres etc.
I found a couple of Indonesian tyre manufacturers which seem to have nice dual-purpose looking tread patterns but I don't think they go up to a 21. Any help or advice will be much appreciated.. or I might just get a new front in Penang before sending the bike over to Medan but I don't like being wasteful
Thanks very much in advance
Oli

Hi, we made it 1.5 years ago through Indonesia with our AT. It was a major problem to get an 21 tire there.. in the end I got it though a friend of mine who had a friend who just accidently was in Singapore at the day I contacted him and on the way to Tangeram (Jakarta) and he brought a tire with him. To get an 21´ in Indonesia was nearly impossible, or at least it was two years ago.
Get in Contact with Lutson Umbaran (HTML: Honda Tiger Mailing List MC), either here in da HUBB or in FB, maybe he can help (100% relayable and a good bloke! all of this HTML guys are FUNtastic, if there is something you need in Indo, if they can not help, nobody can) don´t forget GRTS fom me to him:

contact Honda Tiger Mailing List (HTML) in Facebook
contact Ivan, head of HTML Tangeram: van.rivai.524 AT facebook.com
^^ They will introduce you to the rest of HTML Indonesia.
Another idea, just forget about the half worn tire and get a new one in KL, Sunny MC has some for sure! That will save you from a lot of troubles... Or get a spare one and fix it somewhere on the bike, we have been 2up, 450kg and did sometimes 2000km with an extra tire straped to the back...
If you want more details about Indo PM me...

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
