vietnam trip report

i just ended a 1 month awesome trip throughout vietnam, i want to share my experience to you guys if you ever visit that part of the world which i believe is good enough to be there and spend your money.

Vietnam visa: (AS A TRAVELER, I STRONGLY ADVICE YOU TO ARRANGE BEFORE HEADING TO VIETNAM), it is a bit more complicated compare to neighboring laos and or cambodia, for those countries i have got my visa at the land borders while for vietnam you must Pre arrange your visa beforehand, i was heading tO the land border with vietnam from laos and i got refused to back to laos because i didnt arrange the vietnam visa before departure, i went back to Vientiane, laos and then applied my visa through a company ( Vietnam visa | Visa to Vietnam | Vietnam visa on arrival | vietnam visa application ) and i got my visa in 1 working days, paid 10$ for the visa letter as they called + 45 $ for the stamping fee upon the arrival.

places to visit: I personally loved ho chi minh city, its a city i called the New York of the Vietnam, its more developed, its more vibrant and nights are always crazy if you are into a bit more of party.
i went to mekond delta area, visited my tho, ben tre and cai be and experienced home stay.

Beaches: i liked Phu quoc island, more than commercially famous Nha trang.
Dalat: a nice city to be for 1 or 2 nights
Hue and Hoi an: ancient vietnam on a showstring.. liked them actually
Hanoi: my guide book explained it as a little Paris, and actually its true, the traffic gem is so high in Hanoi and crossing the streets are a bit tricky, i just follow the locals whenever i was about to cross the streets.

Halong bay: very lovely bay with more than 1000 limestome rising up from throughout the bay, just pay attention which cruise you choose to go with, i personally, choose one that really forgot the cruise name and really made me disappointing. the prices for cursing is extremely vary from 45 to up to 800 $, try a bit more of research and choose the one that meets your expectations.

Sapa: its all about trekking, i liked it as well, i spend 2 night home stay plus trekking with same company i went to mekong delta.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
