With Royal Endfield starting in Calcutta
Since a few years I've got this dream to travel trought India on a royal endfield.
And this year I will fullfil my dreams. In mid december I will fly to calcutta and have to retrun to switzerland in april. I would love to drive up to the north but since in this time of the year will be freezing I decided to drive around in the east.
So I tought I will concentrate on the provinces of Sikkim, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland and Mizoram.
And maybe a little trip to bangladesh would be intressting too.
So can give me anyone advices, ideas and everything I will need for this trip?
Do you know good places to buy second hand endfields in calcutta?
Are the places I am not allowed to go?
etc etc etc

You'll need permits for certain border areas - here's the rundown: https://www.tripsavvy.com/permits-fo...-india-1539554
A local can give you better advice, but for Calcutta all the repair shops are in a an alley by Wellington Crossing here - I'm sure if you wandered around you could find someone willing to sell

Alternatively there's a cool bikers cafe that you can probably ask about at here:

I'm afraid you cannot take an Indian vehicle into Bangladesh, as above, you will need permits for some of the Eastern states.

Since you are staying within India, I suggest spending some time on the Indian (English language) website "Team BHP" which has a very active travelogue & motorbike section covering loads of trips within India. Lots of info there too on what sort of bike gear they have out there, you may wish to consider taking certain bits with you!
Arriving in Kolkata in December and leaving in April, then personally, I would head south down the East coast first and come back up north on the West side so you have the last (warmest) month to head into the Himalayas.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
