NC700X or S
Hi all, took a ride out to the Honda dealers today.
Ok not much use off the tarmac BUT.
Looking over the new adventure styled bikes. Crossrunner, Crosstourer and NC700.
Well what impressed me most was the NC700. Ok the bigger bikeshad a better spec sheet, but in some ways the smaller bike had better specs. Lower weight, 70 - 80 mpg when ridden gently. Real world performance. high torque.
The crucial appeal though is the under £6000 price tag the c runner £9000 roughly. The c tourer £eek.
There was also a Triumph xc800 a 1200 explorer.
Booked myself in for a test ride tomorrow.
Will let you know my thoughts.

Hi all, i went for my test ride today.
I was well impressed.
It was instantly easy to ride.
Handled well
Braked well
Pulled well for the low bhp.
Cruised at sensible speeds.
Was quiet, used very little fuel.
I rode the basic bike the s model.
I will be trying the x model on Monday with the higher screen and more funky styling.

I work as a motorcycle courier in London for one of the big companies. They are now buying a bunch of nc700 bikes and it looks like they will be the next big courier bike (currently cbf600, with some old cbf500s still rattling away). That is a big endorsement as far I'm concerned.

Yes I had a look at one in Honda Chiswick, and they said one courier company had just ordered 20 x's.

I didn't ride it unfortunately, Floyd. I was buying a SH300 at the time.
It's the same frame and engine as the Integra also, except cheaper as the standard model has manual gearbox (the Integra comes with dual-clutch auto).

I will go with NC700X.
Honda a lot of absolutely did put plan into the NC700X, and it came at the activity from such a left-field angle, this has the abeyant to be the a lot of cogent motorcycle engine of contempo times. Yes, I do apperceive all about Ducati’s 1199, but that and every added new engine in the endure few years – or even decades – has been no added than an extrapolation of what we already have. Some are acute and ablaze techno porn, like the Ducati, but none has the boldness of this backward middleweight, a bike which until now has been at best a baby bleep on the alarm of a lot of motorcyclists – indeed, it will abide so to many, but the bike isn’t aimed at them.
The NT700X which I rode is one of three machines to admission the alongside accompanying engine, the added two getting the added commonly road-styled NC700S and the Integra scooter. It’s not just the ability assemblage which they share, but the rolling anatomy too, or as Honda calls it, the platform.

Test rode the x version today.
The engine is an absolute jem imho.
Deffo prefer fhe s model though.
I found the seat on the x uncomfortable.
It seams to tilt slightly forward, making the posterier go numb.
Also i had an ache in my shoulders.
Easily remidied by new handlebars.
Could i justify the extra £500.

Just thought I would add the bit below about the fuel economy side of things (cut and pasted from my post about the 650GS).
It would be good to think that real life reports about the NC700 will appear, in due course, in the Honda tech forum.
I too had a quick look at these bikes in a dealers' showroom a few days ago; the NC700 has to be much better value for money than their bigger offerings, assuming that you aren't too bothered about carrying a pillion as a routine (based on the overall size of the bike and the size of the pillion seat).
You could buy two NC700s and have cash to spare for the travelling compared with the price of the crosstourer.
The new BMW Sertao gets a write up in a UK bike magazine; they are running long termish economy tests of lots of bikes over a period of time; so far, the new Sertao (the replacement for the Dakar) has come out on top with a figure of 76.0 MPG (that's UK gallons).
As far as I know this is exactly the same twin spark engine that was fitted in the F series single cyl bike.
I get this kind of fuel economy out of my standard 2005 650GS when I don't wring it's neck on the major highways.
In those test, the new Honda NC700X is next best with 75.7 MPG.
Food for thought .
