ST1100 - viable to Singapore?
I've been reading the forums for a while now and several times I've seen it mentioned that you can get from London to Singapore on sealed roads. If that is the case, is a St1100 Pan European a viable machine for such a trip?

Yes, you can ride absolutely anything on this route. The only problem are a few short road works sections in the Balochi desert between Dalbandin and Quetta. I dropped my trail bike in the sand.
Of course, you are aware that you will have to fly Ktm-Bkk to get around Burma.

Roads
The only other thing to bear in mind, is that in Pakistan when they resurface/relay roads they tend to dig up huge sections at a time, 50/100ks and leave the traffic to ride alongside on the sand/dust which they often then wet down to keep the dust down, this obviously can then get a little muddy and slippery!
Also, you would have to avoid Cambodia pretty much completely due to the dirt roads there.
Otherwise, more than do able.

I dont think you have to avoid Cambodia altogether cos you have a streetbike. There are (mostly) good, paved roads all the way through the country these days. Even the Koh Kong route, and from Kratie to Laotian border should be fully paved by now, or very close to finish the work anyway. Only from Poipet to Siem Reap the main road is shitty, and there may be some potholed sections elsewhere, but all in all its do-able. Of course you wont be able to go to all interesting places there, so your choices will be limited. Sure an offroad-bike is unbeatable in Cambodia.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
