Motorcycling in Iran as a woman, a must & not a joke!
Hi fellow riders and travellers,
In May 2016 I co-organized a motorbike tour in Iran over a very nice route across the mountains in the north. We arrived from Armenia, crossed Iran from west to east all through the 4000 meter high mountains and left through Turkmenistan.
One of the best things about the entire trip was the fact that a girl(myself) was leading a group of men on motorcycles in Iran. It was absolutely fine and fun!
Here is a link to our trip with some information on visa, carnet de passage and other handy things. Feel free to contact me for any information you might need as I do a lot Iran and Central Asia (you might call me lucky)!

Enjoy Iran specially if you are a woman!

Looks like you had a great trip. I've had a quick look at the website but I can't find the information on visas and carnets. I would be very interested to read about this. Please can you point me in the right direction.

It's general information but if you need any specific I will be happy to help you.

I rode as a solo woman in Iran in 2012, was brilliant, had a wonderful and friendly time.. no need to consider a group if you generally don't travel with the comfort of groups..
'but where is your husband? 'Oh shit, he must have fallen off the back of the bike!'!

Rachel, just noticed you are in Norfolk. If you would like to meet up for a cuppa to chat travels, drop me a line, I'm either in Downham Market, or Ely.. and if you are passing through you are very welcome to drop in.

Hi
I am a solo female rider going from France to Madagan (Siberia) leaving in a month. I am having a lot of trouble getting a Turkmenistan visa and wonder where you got yours from?

The Turkmenistan visa is notoriously hard to get, around 50% get turned down for no apparent reason. If you haven't already seen it, www.caravanistan.com is a great source of information on travel in the region, including visas and border crossings.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
